My mother is always the one I respect most. She is the first guide of my life, and the pillar of our family.
Once in my childhood, I desired so much to look beautiful. Mother told me," Vanity is a crime. Beauty is only skin-deep." She then bought me lots of interesting books, from fairy tales to collections of essays. From time to time, she took me to travel with her in the country and open my eyes to so many new things, which I would not have otherwise seen.
Mother devotes most of her time and energy to our family. Immediately after coming back from work every work，she keeps herself busy around the apartment, cleaning, washing and cooking. Our happiness is her greatest joy; our achievements are her greatest pride. We can never forget how bravely she acted the day Grandma passed away.
My respect for Mother grows with time. She is my most beloved person in the world.
Today is Saturday. I stay at home with my parents.
My mother said that today we should do some cleanings. I agreed and I would like to help.
I cleaned the windows. It was really a tough job. Now matter how hard I tried, they seemed dirty all the same.
Therefore, I asked for help. My mother teached me a method to clean the windows. It realy worked.
And then I cleaned the floor. It was much easier than cleaning the windows. I did it in a short time.

Last night I was driving home from work. I had an accident. I was following behind a truck, driving at about 30 kilometers an hour. I was watching the traffic carefully because it was getting dark.
Suddenly a small girl ran onto the road from the left. She was chasing a dog and she wasn’t paying any attention to the traffic. I immediately applied the brakes and turned the steering wheel quickly to the right.

One day three men got a bottle of wine. But the wine was not enough for them three and each of them wanted to drink the wine alone. Then they all agreed that they each would draw a snake on the ground and the one who first finished drawing would be given the wine. So they began to draw on the ground with sticks.
It was not long before one of the three finished drawing his snake. He found the other two were still busy with their drawings. How slow you are ！ said he， I can even add feet to my snake before you finish yours.
He put down the bottle and began to add feet to his snake. But before he finished， another man took hold of the bottle and said， I’ve finished. Snakes have no feet， so yours is not a snake. With these words he drank up the wine.
One morning I got up very early, and everything around was very quiet. The sun had just risen, shining brilliantly and everything seemed to be covered with a layer of golden silk. There were only some birds singing occasionally in the tall trees. I strolled along the street toward the park, breathing the fresh air and feeling extremely happy.

It is a small village. There are about 600 people. Most of them are peasants. They mainly plant wheat， corn and cotton. Some of them often go fishing in the sea.

Then my wife had an idea. She suggested that we might think of an unusual subject, look it up in an encyclopedia and then talk about it at dinner. If it were an unusual subject, Mr. James could not possibly know anything about it. The subject we chose was “English Agriculture in the Eleventh Century.” At dinner that night we discussed this subject with great enthusiasm. Mr. James was silent. We realized we had at last come to find something he knew nothing about.
Miss Li is our English teacher. She always impresses us deeply with her lively English class.
One day when the first bell rang， the monitor stood up and said， Our English teacher is going to have an operation today. It has not been decided yet who will give us the lesson.
